The really dumb thing about the “When did this become hotter than this” image is that the message is supposed to be against reinforcing stereotypes and body image ideals, but it’s just trading one ideal for another. That’s not how you get a point across. You’re doing it wrong. Just because the whole 50’s look that’s portrayed isn’t as far outside the range of most human body types like the top set of images is, doesn’t mean it’s not still an ideal. The girls in the bottom 4 images all have similar body types, clothing, and overall style. If you’re saying we should praise that image instead, you’re no better. You’re still shaming one image in favor of another.
Can’t we all just move past stereotyped attractiveness, and let people decide for their own damn selves what they like and don’t like?
